Apparently, I only knit hats. Seriously. I have tons of other things to knit.... but my family wants hats. First it was Mikaela. Then Alexander had to have a hat. Then Aeddon accused me of not loving him cause I didnt make him a hat yet. (He really did. I swear that I am not making that up... Seriously my boy has issues.)
So I did what any knitting mom would do. I made hats. I gotta tell you a secret. Even though I liked Alexanders yarn the most to start with.... I dont like the way his hat looks. The yarn color-pooled. Badly. On the other side of the scope, I hated Aeddon's yarn to begin with..... I am not a big fan of the 60's citrus kitchen look, but Aeddon loved it.... so I started knitting... and I love the way it turned out! It made a rocking pattern as I knit it up! I love Doodlebirds yarns!
So now here are the hats.
Mikaela in her new hat.
Alexander in his new hat.
See the color-pooling. Oh well. He loves it.
Aeddon in his new hat.
See?! It did make a cool pattern... and the colors look way better together knit up than they did skeined! Yay!
So guess what????!!!!!
Now Owen wants a hat.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

My Boy is 5!!!!
I can't believe it, but Alexander is 5 years old! His birthday was on friday. I know. It has been over three days and I am just posting this now.... but there you go! I dont know why, but I never managed to take his picture on his birthday.... but he looked much the same on Saturday when we had his birthday party.
Wanna see his not-a-cake cupcakes?
They didn't wanna all fit on the biggest tray that I own.... so I just kinda had to smoosh the words together.... but it says Happy 5th Birthday Alexander. I could not decide if I wanted his frosting to be blue with red writing or green with red writing. Owen pointed out that the red and green only option would look kinda Christmas-y. (that is kinda a sore subject around here....) so I did both! Not at all Christmas-y and all boy! I love how it turned out! I just need a bigger tray.
He got lots of great presents. Both sets of grandparents even sent him gifts in the mail! Well mine sent a gift card in a birthday card (my request actually). We just invited a few friends. Some how I managed to get a picture of almost every female in attendance eating a cupcake.... Wanna see? Ok.
These are just the three that made the best faces.
Oh yeah! Did I mention that Owen called his parents and I called my parents and we both put them on speaker phone so that they could join in the fun of singing "The Happy Birthday Song"? Yeah. It was really sweet.
And now I think I shall leave you with a picture of my big boy in his jammies playing with the dinosaurs that his Gran and Grandad (Owen's parents) sent him.

A Year in the Making
As I have said before, I have been making a lot of things lately. Well for the whole year now, I have been making calendar pages. See here is the thing, a year ago I started a 365 project with each of my kids. I did really well... that is until my camera bit the dust at the end of august. By the time I got a new one.... I had lost all inspiration to continue the project. Well I still continued to make mosaics out of pictures I was taking each month. The idea was to use one mosaic per month and have them made into a calendar that I could have printed up as Christmas gifts. I finished compiling the last mosaic today.
Since most people will not be receiving these calendars, I thought I would share the pictures with you.... especially since the two sets of people who will be receiving them don't read my blog, so it will not ruin their Christmas surprise.
Without further ado I am going to post the pictures as they will show up in the calendar:
January 2009:
February 2009:
March 2009:
April 2009:
May 2009:
June 2009:
July 2009:
August 2009:
September 2009:
October 2009:
November 2009:
December 2009:
I hope that our parents will enjoy these calendars as much as I enjoyed putting them together for them over the last year.
